Why Nuggets’ Jamal Murray is “built for” the NBA playoff stage

Like sun-soaked days over Wash Park or tulips bursting at the Botanic Gardens, even Jamal Murray has a few tells about what time of year it is.In the first-round playoff series against Minnesota, Murray burnished his reputation as a playoff assassin. In just his second postseason game since September 2020, Murray eviscerated the Wolves for 40 points. Less than a week later, he hung 35 more to send them into the offseason. And yet the signals Nuggets coach Michael Malone derives from his lead guard, suggesting a playoff focus has consumed him, have nothing to do with scoring points.“Defense is a big one, how locked in is he? How engaged is he?” Malone told The Denver Post. “The other one is his rebounding. At his size and strength, if he played like this all year long, he’d be a perennial All-Star.”Malone spotted another tell when his burly guard insisted on guarding Anthony Edwards, Minnesota’s top scoring threat, in the first round.“’No, you’re not hiding me,” Malone sai...35th annual Seal Beach Classic Car Show kicks off

(NEXSTAR) – This week, McDonald’s began offering its Big Mac sauce (aka “special sauce”) in prepackaged dipping cups, providing an option for customers who want a little extra sauce to put on their fries, their burgers, or even their Oreo McFlurries, as was suggested by a fan with seemingly no self-control whatsoever. But those dipping cups aren’t free. While they’re complementary for customers who purchase Chicken McNuggets through the McDonald’s app, everyone else will need to order the dipping cups à la carte for a small fee. How do you pronounce ‘Whataburger’? Twitter post sparks debate Still, there is another option for customers who want to obtain some extra Mac sauce on the cheap: They can make it themselves. At least two McDonald’s insiders have revealed their recipes for Big Mac sauce over the last decade or so, including former chef Dan Coudreaut and former corporate chef Mike Haracz. It should be noted, however, that both Coudreaut and Haracz’s (extremely similar) recipes...Willie Nelson at 90: Country music’s elder statesman still on the road again

(The Conversation) - Willie Nelson’s unofficial theme song, “On the Road Again,” remains accurate as he turns 90 on April 29, 2023. The country music legend is on tour, with dates scheduled into October 2023.Assessing Nelson’s legacy is challenging because there are so many Willies to assess. There is historical Willie Nelson, child of the Depression. There is iconic Willie Nelson, near embodiment of Texas myth. There is outlaw Willie Nelson, revolutionizing the country music industry. There is activist Willie Nelson, Farm Aid’s co-founder and biofuel pioneer. There is Willie Nelson the songwriter of rare and poignant gifts, and more Willie Nelsons yet to be named. As a Texas music historian, I find that Nelson’s legacy also challenges appraisal because the concept assumes closure, a pastness, while the man at 90 still seems to be active everywhere. The LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas recently announced the Willie Nelson Endowment Upli...Woman killed, man injured in Oakland shootings

Alvarado, who spoke at a reception before the performance last Tuesday, was touched by the gesture but also aware of what it meant for the students, too.Alvarado, 92, said it was a unique experience to observe the students as they pieced together parts of her personal and professional life through research and group discussions. They spent weeks asking questions, memorizing lines and ultimately, she said, putting heart and meaning into the life of their scho...Man arrested for selling narcotics, fighting police officers in Vallejo
