Cambridge native Ben Affleck recently discussed support from his wife, Jennifer Lopez, among other topics in a revealing new interview with the Hollywood Reporter ahead of the release of his upcoming film “Air.” Affleck said Lopez helped him with the script for the film, which brings to life the true story of Nike executives vying for a sneaker deal with Michael Jordan before Jordan became the basketball legend many now know him to be. “She is incredibly knowledgeable about the way fashion evolves through the culture as a confluence of music, sports, entertainment and dance,” Affleck said of Lopez. “She helped me in talking about the way in which a part of the reason why Jordans [the shows] were so meaningful is because culture and style in America is 90 percent driven by Black culture,” Affleck said. “Air” is the first film Affleck and his longtime friend and fellow Cambridge native Matt Damon are set to release from their new production company. Affleck discussed ...

The only tangible piece of the Chicago Bears’ blockbuster draft trade last week was headed down his driveway to pick up packages when the phone call came through from the Carolina Panthers.Wide receiver DJ Moore has known only the Panthers organization over five NFL seasons after they drafted him in the first round in 2018. He gave them remarkable consistency despite a rotating cast of quarterbacks, averaging 123 catches and 1,040 yards per season and earning a second contract. But the Panthers want to end that quarterback instability, and the Bears crave production from a wide receiver. NEW YORK (AP) — Umpires will have a new view this season: on Zoom.Major League Baseball struck a deal with Zoom Video Communications Inc. allowing on-field umpires to watch the replay operations center evaluating contested calls.MLB first adopted instant replay in September 2008 for home boundary calls and expanded it to a wide variety of decisions for the 2014 season. There were 1,434 video reviews last season that included 1,261 team challenges with 50.2% leading to overturned calls.Until now, the on-field crew chief listened to the replay umpire in New York with audio only, joined by the umpire who made the initial call if different from the crew chief. The umps walked over to the side of the field through 2013 to listen on a headset, then from 2014-21 an attendant brought out a headset to the field for them. Last year, umps switched to a wireless belt pack and MLB for the first time allowed then to announce replays and decisions over ballpark public address systems.On-field umps...
