Q: Is the time change dangerous for drivers?AnonymousA: It can be. The CHP and National Sleep Foundation recognize Nov. 5-11 as Drowsy Driving Prevention Week. Time changes and insufficient sleep can affect drivers’ ability to drive safely.Preliminary 2023 data from CHP traffic records show that there have been more than 4,000 crashes in California this year involving a drowsy driver. The CHP reminds drivers to pull safely off the road whenever they feel drowsy. If you’re looking for a rest area, check Caltrans QuickMap. TOKYO (AP) — Top diplomats from the Group of Seven leading industrial democracies called Wednesday for “urgent action” to help civilians trapped in an increasingly dire situation in Gaza, including pauses in the fighting to allow aid in and people out, in announcing a unified stance on the Israel-Hamas war.In a statement following two days of intensive talks in Tokyo, the nations sought to balance the need to help Palestinians in the besieged enclave with unequivocal criticism of Hamas’ Oct. 7 cross-border attack and support for Israel’s right to self-defense. But the statement adds to pressure on Israel, which previously resisted U.S. calls for a “humanitarian pause.”“All parties must allow unimpeded humanitarian support for civilians, including food, water, medical care, fuel and shelter, and access for humanitarian workers,” said the statement, hammered out by U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and foreign ministers from Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Japan and Italy. “We ...Montgomery Co. Members of the Montgomery County Council are demanding that the Silver Spring-based immigrant rights group CASA retract a statement it posted, then removed, on social media that was critical of Israel’s actions in Gaza. The statement Monday by CASA Executive Director Gustavo Torres said the nonprofit group stands in “steadfast solidarity with the people of Palestine.”The statement accused Israel of “systematic ethnic cleansing of the Palestinian people.” While it condemned the Oct. 7 attack by Hamas in Israel, it charged that Israel has unleashed “the heinous practice of terror” in Gaza. It called for an immediate cease-fire and condemned U.S. military aid to Israel. The group, which receives federal, state and county funding to advance its program of aid to immigrants, also linked the Palestinian struggle with those of the immigrant communities it supports, whose countries, the statement said, have been “wrecked by the damage of U.S. ec...George Washington Men’s Basketball Preview: Revolutionaries looking to make a run

PRISTINA, Kosovo (AP) — Kosovo is setting up an institute to document Serbia’s crimes against its population in the 1998-1999 war, the country’s prime minister said Wednesday.Albin Kurti said the institute would document the war crimes so “the Kosovar Albanians’ tragic history suffered at the hands of criminal Serbia is more widely known.”The war between Serbia and Kosovo killed more than 10,000 people, mostly Kosovo Albanians. It ended after a 78-day NATO bombing campaign that compelled Serbian forces to withdraw from Kosovo.Kosovo declared independence in 2008 — a move Belgrade refuses to recognize.“Wounds are still fresh,” said Kurti, adding that more than 1,600 bodies are still missing. He accused Serbia of burying them in unmarked graves and refusing to share their whereabouts.Fourteen years after the end of the war, tensions between Kosovo and Serbia remain high, raising fears among Western powers of another conflict as the war in Ukraine rages on.Normalization tal...Latest news
