LEWISTON, Maine (AP) — A man shot and killed at least 16 people at a restaurant and a bowling alley in Maine and then fled into the night, sparking a massive search by hundreds of officers while frightened residents stayed locked in their homes Thursday under a shelter-in-place advisory.A police bulletin identified Robert Card, 40, as a person of interest in the attack in Lewiston that sent panicked bowlers scrambling behind pins, into corners and a back room when shots rang out around 7 p.m. Wednesday. Card was described as a firearms instructor believed to be in the U.S. Army Reserve and assigned to a training facility in Saco, Maine. The document, circulated to law enforcement officials, said Card had been committed to a mental health facility for two weeks in the summer of 2023. Southwest Airlines announced plans Thursday to offer daily service between St. Louis Lambert International Airport and Hollywood Burbank Airport by June 4. Opening day for Colorado ski season is drawing near. Arapahoe Basin, Keystone and Loveland are making snow, hoping to open soon, and this weekend’s cold front and snowfall could help them get there.Last year, A-Basin was the first to open, on Oct. 23, followed by Keystone on Oct. 28, Winter Park on Oct. 31 and Loveland on Nov. 3. According to records kept by The Denver Post, Arapahoe Basin has been the first Front Range area to open in 10 of the last 12 years, usually with Loveland or Keystone close behind. Wolf Creek, in southern Colorado, was first to open in 2021.Arapahoe Basin, Keystone and Loveland will open as soon as they have enough snow to operate, as will Wolf Creek.
