SAN DIEGO-- Just weeks after a judge temporarily blocked a state law that bans Californians from carrying guns in most public spaces, late Saturday, a federal appeals court reversed that decision, allowing the law to go into effect in the new year, at least for now.Signed by the Governor Newsom in September, the law known as SB 2 would have banned Californians from carrying firearms in 26 types of public places including parks, sports stadiums, amusement parks and houses of worship. Michael Swartz, the executive director of the San Diego County Gun Owners Pac, said SB 2 turns non-sensitive areas into sensitive areas.“The problem is that it expands it so much that it really leaves nowhere for people to carry for self-defense in public,” said Michael Swartz, executive director, San Diego County Gun Owners Pac. BEIRUT (AP) — The U.S. military said they attacked a cargo ship in the Red Sea, killing several of them in an escalation of the maritime conflict linked to the war in Gaza.In a series of statements, the U.S. Central Command said the crew of the USS Gravely destroyer first shot down two anti-ship ballistic missiles fired at the Singapore-flagged Maersk Hangzhou late Saturday after the vessel reported getting hit by a missile earlier that evening as it sailed through the Southern Red Sea. Four small boats then attacked the same cargo ship with small arms fire early Sunday and rebels tried to board the vessel, the U.S. Navy said. Next, the USS Gravely and helicopters from the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower aircraft carrier responded to the Maersk Hangzhou's distress call and issued verbal warnings to the attackers, who responded by firing on the helicopters.“The U.S. Navy helicopters returned fire in self-defense,” sinking three of the four boats and killing the people on board while the fou...You might be driving wrong on icy roads

SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — It has been a relatively mild start to winter for much of the U.S., but it won't be long until many of us encounter icy roads (if you haven't already this season). "It's been a while since we have been able to do that and … it's definitely scary, you know, definitely got to make sure the tires are good," driver Lorenzo Brown Jr. told Nexstar's KELO after South Dakota was hit by some winter weather earlier this week.Even for the most seasoned winter driver, it is important to take extra precautions when roads are snowy and icy."So I see it quite often, people jackrabbit start from the stoplights — you got to quit that. Nice, easy acceleration. Let your car warm up just so you're comfortable and can think without freezing while you're driving," Airway Auto Service owner Tom Broadbent explained when asked about driving in winter weather. Do you actually need to let your car warm up in winter? While many people learned to pump their brakes when stopping on i...Real World Economics: 2023: It was a very odd year

But we may not understand exactly why and how for a long time. When recently-deceased Henry Kissinger made his covert flight to China in 1971, there was a tea break in the negotiations. The participants were all well-schooled in history and a debate broke out over the effects of ...Latest news
