JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — A man who escaped from a Mississippi jail last weekend and fled to Texas after allegedly stealing a public works vehicle has been arrested in a Houston suburb, authorities announced Thursday. Jerry Raynes was apprehended in Spring Valley days after he and three other inmates escaped Saturday night from the Raymond Detention Center near Jackson, Mississippi’s capital, Hinds County Sheriff Tyree Jones said. Raynes is the second escaped prisoner to be found in a multi-agency hunt. Dylan Arrington died after barricading himself in a central Mississippi home and setting it on fire during an armed standoff with deputies Wednesday. Newly released surveillance video captured a crash on a stretch of railroad tracks in Broward County that sent a driver to the hospital. The incident happened at around 8 p.m. Wednesday in the area of Southwest 10th Street and Dixie Highway in Deerfield Beach. The security footage shows that the driver of the vehicle did not appear to be trying to beat a Brightline train. Instead, the vehicle was stalled on the tracks when it was hit by the train.As the car remained on the tracks, the warning arms came down behind the car, and the vehicle did not move. The video then showed the train clipping the front passenger side, which sent the car flying, causing it to flip several times before it landed on its side. Broward Sheriff Fire Rescue crews arrived to the scene and were forced to extricate the driver out of the mangled car. Crews have knocked down a fire that broke out at a trailer park in North Lauderdale and caused a partial roof collapse.7Skyforce hovered above the scene of the mobile home blaze at The Villages, located along the 3700 block of Northwest 55th Court, Thursday evening.North Lauderdale Fire Rescue units responded to the scene just before 6 p.m.Officials said the fire may have started with a car and spread to the mobile home.An elderly man who lives inside the home was able to get out safely. A 21-year-old man died Thursday morning when a car in South Hadley crashed into a tree. The 19-year-old driver was transported to the hospital with serious injuries, according to officials.Around 7 a.m. on River Lodge Road, the car drifted across the center line and collided with the tree, the Northwest District Attorney Office reported.
