Stoneham has established its Veterans Day Field of Honor for the fourth year, a tribute that organizers say keeps growing. “Stoneham is unique in that we celebrate veterans week, not just Veterans Day,” said state Rep. Michael Day, who was on hand for a ceremony at the Field of Honor on Saturday. The salute to servicemembers features flags and the names of veterans.State Sen. Jason Lewis was also at the ceremony, and said world events have added extra meaning to honoring those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.“Conflicts in the Middle East Ukraine and elsewhere may seem distant but they affect many of our neighbors none more so than our military service members and their families who may receive orders to deploy at any time,” he said. “The men and women honored by each of these flags made the choice to serve others sometimes at great risk to themselves.”‘Anyone who would like to tour the display is invited to walk through it, it’s open 24...A bit nicer Sunday

Temperatures should range from the upper 50s to low 60s with a light breeze out of the north. If you’re headed to the Pats game, expect typical fall football weather with clouds at times and temps in the 50s. Raking leaves Sunday? ATTLEBORO – The Bishop Feehan field hockey team knows a little too well about the dangers of the first couple rounds in the Div. 1 state tournament, losing its second-round matchup last year via upset. With or without a crack at redemption in mind Saturday afternoon, though, the eighth-seeded Shamrocks (12-5-1) will get it by securing a resilient 3-0 win over No. 25 Brookline in first-round action.Ava Meehan and Jordi Higgins assisted each other on their respective goals in the win, capping a relentless attack that was put to the test by a stingy Warriors (9-8-2) defense. Bridgette McGinnis’ tally was the only goal Bishop Feehan finished on 15 offensive corners, while its own defense didn’t allow a shot on goal. The Shamrocks’ prize is a rematch with the No. 9 King Philip team that ousted it in last year’s second round. They play Tuesday at 5 p.m.“That first game, you never know,” said Bishop Feehan head coach Betsy D’Ambrosia. “All the pairings, you just don’t know what you’re going ...Frank Mooney Invitational: Holliston’s Carmen Luisi holds off tough challenge

WRENTHAM — With the division championships just a week away, Holliston’s Carmen Luisi is running better than ever and should be a heavy favorite to defend her Div. 2 All-State title. The competition will be tough, but taking on the best harriers in the state is nothing new to Luisi, whose legend grows with every win.It was more of the same for the elusive harrier yesterday in the junior/senior small school race at the Frank Mooney Coaches Invitational.Racing in dry, cool conditions, Luisi was 15 yards up on teammate Maggie Kuchman and Whitinsville Christian freshman Emily Flagg through a 5:33 opening mile. Luisi, who edged out Kuchman at the Twilight Invitational, never faltered as she cruised over the 5K Wrentham Developmental Center course for the win in 18 minutes, six seconds. Kuchman was a second back in 18:07 and Flagg was right on her tail at 18:08.7.Luisi, who will attend Syracuse University, was not surprised the two harrier talents were dogging her over the rolling co...Illinois stuns Minnesota 27-26 on TD pass by Paddock in final minute after late QB switch for injury

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) — John Paddock relieved the injured Luke Altmyer and went 3 for 3 for 85 yards to lift Illinois from a huge hole and deliver the go-ahead 46-yard touchdown pass to Isaiah Williams with 50 seconds left for a 27-26 victory over stunned Minnesota on Saturday.Altmyer passed for 212 yards and a career-high three touchdowns for the Illini (4-5, 2-4 Big Ten), who had two of their three turnovers in the fourth quarter.
